GC Farms Awarded Gavilan College Spirit Award.

Family Recognized for Community Involvement and Philanthropy.

On Oct. 1, 2015, George and Alice Chiala were presented with the Gavilan College 2015 Business Community Spirit Award during the Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce’s monthly “Good Morning Morgan Hill” breakfast. Assemblyman Luis A. Alejo, who also attended the breakfast, additionally presented the Chialas with a State Assembly certificate of appreciation commending the couple for receiving the Gavilan award as well as for their contributions and generosity to non-profit organizations.

Presented annually to one local business in each of the three communities (Morgan Hill, Gilroy and Hollister) the college serves, the Gavilan College Spirit Award honors the people and institutions that contribute to improving the quality of life within the community. Gavilan College cited many reasons for recognizing George Chiala Farms including fresh produce donations to non-profit organizations throughout south Santa Clara County, and internships to high school and college students seeking careers in agriculture. Additionally, George Chiala was recognized for being a strong proponent of building a Catholic High School in Morgan Hill as well as for his service to Saint Louise Regional Hospital. All in all, the Chialas were called “outstanding philanthropists” – a description to which they are both humbled and honored.
