GC Farms Gifts Forklift to Community Food Bank of San Benito County.

New Electric Forklift helps Food Bank manage warehouse and also meet Sustainability Goals.

Mark Paxton, director of community engagement and fund development at Community Food Bank, recently published a story about the forklift that George Chiala Farms gifted the food bank in February of this year. The shiny new electric Clark three-wheeler replaces an aging one that was powered with propane.

“Thanks to the help from our new partners at George Chiala Farms, we’re closer to our goal of green sustainability than ever before,” said Maria Lynn Thomas, chief executive officer for the Food Bank.

The three-wheel configuration of the new lift also affords maneuverability in tight spaces within the warehouse, which was not previously achievable. “I’m able to use a whole set of racks that I couldn’t even get to before,” said Randall Martin, the Food Bank’s warehouse manager. “It can maneuver around anything.”
